What is your warranty?
We
Where do we stay?
In South Africa we stay in hotels, a safari lodge and a beautiful home in Somerset West, Cape Town that I own.
What does it cost?
I don’t make money on these trips. My goal is to introduce you to a country that I love and share in an experience with you. Seeing as this is often a once in a lifetime experience I try and make sure that every dollar goes into securing the best accommodation, transportation and excursions possible. We can always add on experiences and excursions at additional cost.
That said, trips typically cost $2,000 per person (accommodation, food, transport and excursions) + flight (~$1500).
What is the typical itinerary?
3-4 days of Safari - Kruger National Park, South Africa
2 days of Victoria Falls - Zimbabwe, Zambia
3 days of Cape Town - South Africa
1 day service projects with Orchard Africa
Are these religious trips?
These trips are not specially religious trips and I lead people from any faith background or belief. In most parts of the world, especially in areas of immense poverty, the local church is often the first responder to social and spiritual needs.
Who is traveling on your trips?
My favorite part of trips is the energy and excitement that comes from traveling together with a group. Most often groups are made up of friends, neighbors, families, co-workers, pickleball players, lawyers, doctors, moms, dads etc. I try to make sure that the group is balanced. I’ll host an intro call for each trip where you can meet each other and then we’ll have one training meeting prior to departure.
Is South Africa safe?
I have lived in and travelled to South Africa many times. I have taken hundreds if not thousands of people with zero incidents of crime or injury. That being said, there is always inherent risk with traveling, or living for that matter. There are unsafe things to do in every country and I will cover most of these.
What about flights?
I’ll choose a couple flight choices for each trip. You are responsible for purchasing your own flights. I know that some of you want to stick to specific airlines, while others are comfortable flying with the suitcases of Ethiopian Airways. Either way you will get there.
Can I bring my kids? What is the minimum age?
I typically want kids to be older than 8 so that they can fully participate in the itinerary. But each child is different so let’s chat about your child, their needs and what you hope they get out of the trip. I have taken my children to South Africa many times - they beg me to go.
Do I require vaccinations?
South Africa does not require vaccinations.
What about malaria?
This depends on our itinerary. If we travel up to Botswana or Zimbabwe then Malaria pils are recommended. Most of South Africa does not have Malaria.
Do I need a visa?
US citizens do not need a visa.. South Africa requires a passport that is valid for 6 month and has 2 empty pages.
